Why Should You Care?
Let's face it-
. . . most of us are guilty of at least some minor copyright infringements. We have technology that makes it easy and convenient to ignore copyright -- especially when we really need that information for class. But let’s go beyond that. There has been a lot of dialogue regarding copyright, about the problems and issues it raises, about predictions for its long-term viability. Several movements have gained momentum by putting some tough questions about copyright on the table.
It is our goal that this site will open you up to the complexity of the situation at hand, and give you the knowledge you need to proceed through this "digital age." It is important we protect our artists, and keep these issues in mind. Check out these sites to see what others think.
Copyleft
The practice of using copyright law to remove restrictions on distributing copies and modified versions of a work for others and requiring that the same freedoms be preserved in modified versions.
Creative Commons
A nonprofit corporation dedicated to making it easier for people to share and build upon the work of others, consistent with the rules of copyright.
